Midweek

Midweek and Sunday School serve two distinct and important roles.  A family would participate in Sunday School to learn more about the stories of God in light of the greater story of God’s salvation.  Jesus Christ is the center and focus of all God’s promises and stories in the Bible, and the more God’s people are familiar with them the more their faith comes to life.  Sunday School serves this purpose alongside Worship.

Midweek is specifically geared towards teaching our youth the Six Chief Tenants of the Christian faith as taught in Luther’s Small Catechism.  The six tenants are The Ten Commandments, The Apostles Creed, The Lord’s Prayer, The Sacrament of Holy Baptism, The Office of the Keys, and The Sacrament of the Altar.

All six of these tenants are drawn out of God’s Word in Scripture.  The goal of St. Mark’s is to shape our children in knowing the reason and purposes that God uses to instruct His people through these tenants of faith.  Raising up our children in these tenants of faith then allows for our 7th-8th grade students to confirm the faith God has given to them as they continue to grow into disciples.
